As Trump's 'Environmental Protection Agency prepares to finalize the latest in a long line of rollbacks, the nation's power sector has sent a different message: Thanks, but no thanks. Exelon, one of the nation's largest utilities, told the EPA that its effort to change a rule that has cut emissions of mercury and other toxins is "an action that is entirely unnecessary, unreasonable, and universally opposed by the power generation sector."'
Trump's EPA plans to end regulations that reduce mercury in the atmosphere--just because Big Coal wants it to. And despite the fact that every industry that USES coal or used to--does not want the regulation removed. The Trump administration, though, appointed a person to run the EPA who wanted to destroy the EPA. They often said so. Trump appointed a person to run the Dept of Education who wants to get rid of public schools, so that right-wing-Christianity can take over schools. He appointed anti-science people for science-based programs.
It's a special kind of stupidity--malicious stupidity.
And these people don't understand that permitting mercury pollution poisons the water THEY drink, the air THEY breathe, the fish THEY eat. How to explain that disconnect--except to say it's monumentally...
