We didn't have to add anything to that headline from CNN. It just says, in effect, "Florida and the Disney corporation are doing something very, very stupid...together." They're reopening Disney World at the worst possible time.
Why is it a bad time? Look at what else was in the news today: 120 people died in Florida, from Covid, in one day. Also, "The Florida Department of Health reported more than 10,000 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the state's total to more than 220,000." This was a direct consequence of reckless re-opening. And reckless re-opening is de facto stupid.
As prep for this re-opening of Disney World the company is "implementing several measures" for safety. But it's not going to be enough. Especially as it's been learned that the virus is likely more infectious than previously thought. Even major shareholder Trip Miller is worried about it: "To me, the risk is not just a potential outbreak at the parks, but it's the quick evolution of the virus," Miller said. "Even if Disney has done everything possible to combat a spread of the virus, which it seems it has, how do you plan for something that seemingly changes every day?"
Florida has several well known exports. Oranges, is one of its popular products. Another is meth-stoned lunatics. Another is...stupidity.
And of course since people will be traveling to Florida --and Disneyworld--and then going back to their own communities, in other states and other lands, Florida is now a major exporter of coronavirus...
But wait! There's more! This just in: Union Says Walt Disney World "Retaliating" Over Coronavirus Testing Demand - "Actors' Equity Association says Walt Disney World has "locked out" its union members as a way of retaliating against Equity's demand for coronavirus testing as a condition for returning to work." So Walt Disney World wants less testing. Or doesn't want to pay for and arrange it? Is less testing smart during a pandemic?
You know the answer to that.
And meanwhile in Mississippi: Dozens of Mississippi lawmakers have coronavirus after weeks of refusing to wear masks - a painful irony...Oh Mississippi, you'll never change...
