"An indoor house party in New Jersey was so packed with partygoers openly flouting the state's Covid-19 crowd guidelines this weekend that it took police officers over 5 hours to break it up... the crowd surging to an estimated 700 people with well over 100 vehicles parked in the area..."
This would be idiotic even before covid-19, because it would trash the place and most people would be overheated and miserable in such a crowd...But with covid it reaches new levels of imbecility...The two party organizers were issued summons, which of course would happen, so--additional stupidity.
The NJ governor said, "Come on folks! ...That's needlessly putting men and women in uniform and their families at risk." He's right, but I note that rules in New Jersey now allow ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE gathered indoors, anyway. And outdoor gatherings to 500! Are those gatherings not likely to be epidemiological petri dishes as well? They are! So governor...your state is already not doing enough about covid, clearly, hence people naturally don't take it seriously. I mean, if they know 100 is allowed they probably went there thinking that's how many people were going to be there, and they're probably uninformed enough to suppose...like the governor...that 100 is safe...
And by the way, even if a lot of them were wearing masks--do you think drunk people at a party in New Jersey consistently kept their masks on?
